Roll out your mat in support of Yoga Stops Traffick and join us for 108 Sun Salutations!
Yoga Stops Traffick is a worldwide campaign uniting yoga practitioners across the globe to take a stand against human trafficking. The funds raised help support survivors in South India. The number 108 is considered sacred in many Eastern religions and traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. It is also found in yoga and dharma-based practices. Yogis traditionally perform 108 sun salutations on solstices and equinoxes to express their gratitude and devotion.
Penny is hosting a workshop to honour this tradition as we move into the spring whilst also raising money for a great cause. We first held a Yoga Stops Traffic 108 Sun Salutes in the yurt back in 2010, the year this global event first took place.
We are delighted to host again this year with the guidance of Penny leading the session. As you can imagine, it’s a challenging practice but you will be guided to ease off whenever your body calls you to rest. There will be a cool down and well deserved Savasana afterwards.
You might even wish to treat yourself to a sauna afterwards or a dip in the wild swimming lake to cool off!
We are asking for a minimum donation of £25 to secure your mat space in the yurt and participants are warmly encouraged to raise additional donations from friends or work colleagues through sponsorship. This will be collected or pledged on the day so we can make a global Yoga Garden donation.
Since 2010, Yoga Stops Traffick has raised over £250,000 to support the Odanadi Seva Trust, a pioneering anti-trafficking organisation based in Mysore, South India. Odanadi works for the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficked women and children. For more than 30 years Odanadi has been committed to providing a safe haven for survivors of human trafficking, exploitation, slavery and domestic abuse. Therapeutic Yoga is at the core of their rehabilitation process in India and the majority of their funding is raised through yoga events like this one.
